Process of Jacquard Fabric

Earlier there were machine looms controlled by punch cards that were used to create a variety of patterns and designs. This loom could only control a few warps end. Therefore, the entire stamping process was repeated several times to create the final fabric. Later on, more powerful machines were introduced, requiring fewer repetitions of the process.

Jacquard Weaving of Tamil Nadu

" Hundreds of years ago, it was difficult to create a fabric with an intricate pattern called a brocade. Only the wealthiest members of society could afford such decorations, usually in the form of clothes or tapestries. Although this fabric was a symbol of status and wealth, it was a tedious and laborious process that had to be weaved only by hand. Now with modern computer technology, jacquard fabrics are more sophisticated and affordable than ever."
