Material
Fine quality shibori organic handspun & handwoven 50% pure mulberry silk x 50% cotton dupatta. This material is produced sustainably on an organic Mulberry plantation. There are no chemicals used. The cocoons are hand reared, handspun, handwoven. The loom is a pit loom. The plantation is in Katihar, Bihar and handwoven in Birbhum.
This dupatta is adorned with patterns made with the shibori tie-dye technique in which a simple running stitch is used on the cloth then pulled tight to gather the cloth. Each thread is secured by knotting before being dyed. This technique allows for greater control of the pattern and greater variety of pattern, but it is much more time consuming.
Mulberry silk known for its shine and softness. It is one of the most renowned and popular forms of Silk, particularly when it comes to textiles.
