Vankar Vinay Siju
Vinay is a skilled weaver from Bhujodi in Kutch. Growing up as the 6th generation weaver of his family, Vinay was always attuned to the sound of the shuttle and the visual of the craft practice often left him mesmerised. In 2007, Vinay accompanied his father to a craft exhibition post which, it became his firm goal to become an Artisan. However, the family business wasn’t doing too well and Vinay took up other jobs to sustain himself. In 2016, Vinay pursued an MBA Degree from Kutch University where he learnt about marketing and business management. Bringing his learnings back home, the family business Tabhanis Handloom was given a new vision. Vinay enjoys incorporating nature inspired and contemporary designs such as 3D Box Design, shooting stars and peacocks in his work. It is Vinay’s aim to help create a space for young weavers to join in their traditional practice.
