Material
Fine quality pure cotton table runner made through loin loom by tribals of Nagaland.
Weaving in Nagaland is done exclusively by women, unlike other parts of India, using a loin loom. This type of loom is portable and can be operated by a single woman. The portable Naga loin loom has a back strap with a continuous horizontal warp. The kotong (its six sticks) functions as the warp beam. It is fastened to the wall of the house by loops that are set at a distance equal to the breadth of the cloth to be woven.

Antaran-led community initiatives across four states and six clusters are in: Assam (Kamrup and Nalbari), Nagaland (Dimapur), Odisha (Gopalpur and Maniabandha) and Andhra Pradesh (Venkatgiri).
Antaran is an important indicator of Tata trust's work livelihood program, which was launched to bring about fundamental changes in the development of the craftsmanship sector. This comprehensive program aims to rejuvenate sick hand-woven clusters through end-to-end programs. The overall purpose of this intervention is to transform a cluster of six pilot weaving factories by establishing entrepreneur-led micro-enterprises in each element of the value chain. In the first year, a total of three handloomsere were selected, one for each of the states known for their rich cultural textiles, Orissa, Assam, and Nagaland. Incubation and Design Centers have also been set up in these three pilot states as one-stop destinations for traditional craft buyers, designers, researchers, and enthusiasts. In the second year, three clusters were added to Orissa, Assam, and Andhra Pradesh.
