Tajkira Begum from Nanoor village has stood out through her exquisite Kantha Embroidery and has evolved as a confident entrepreneur. Tajkira Begum is engaged in Kantha craft for more than 20 years and has travelled across the country to showcase her products and got appreciated for the same. Tajkira Begum who is the head and a motherly figure for all the artisans of Nanoor, presently there are more than 200 women working under her. She is an inspiration not only to the women of Nanoor but also for everyone.

Tajkira Begum is a prominent Kantha artist from the Nanoor district of the Birbhum district of West Bengal. She introduced her craft in general to children of Muslim families in Nanoor. She first worked in someone else's business in Santiniketan. She says: “I always wanted to do my own thing while working for other people. I have always thought about passing it on to multiple women who can advance their knowledge and support their families.” Because of her zeal, she started a business with 400 women. Today, she continues to run her business with the active support of her husband and supports needy women in the community.
