The Ranthambore Foundation approached Dastkar in late 1980s to initiate income generation activities particularly among women in the area. The organisation now works with over 300 women artisans in the villages around Ranthambore Tiger Reserve. The artisans also form part of the board of DR. Dastkar’s distinctive Tiger motif & use of trees, birds & animal imagery demonstrates the communities concern for the natural environment & in particular, the endangered Tiger species found in the area. DR also has an effluent treatment plant on campus that treats pollutants discharged from the dyeing and printing activities.
