Material
Fine quality handpainted srikalahasti kalamkari pen work chanderi silk precut fabric. Chanderi silks are known for its gossamer looks and amazing feel. This exquisite fabric is created with Srikalahasti style of kalamkari, wherein the "kalam" or pen is used for free hand drawing of the subject and filling in the colours. It is entirely hand worked using natural colours. Kalamkari in Srikalahasti has been around for 200 years approximately. Unlike other places where this particular craft is practiced, artists in Srikalahasti retains the ancient techniques of dyeing which have been passed down from generations. As it is hand-painted/handcrafted, colour spread and irregularity in design is common, hence it won't be considered as damaged or defective.
