The traditional process of hand-printing prints on rich natural-colored fabrics has been practiced in Rajasthan for almost 500 years. Woodblock printing was introduced by the Chipa community in the Jaipur region of Rajasthan. The community was originally located in the village of Bagle, an area now famous for its plant-based ink block prints and the Mud Resistance (Dabu). The art of printmaking has been passed down to families and communities for generations and has spread to other areas, such as Sanganer, south of Jaipur in recent decades. In traditional style woodblock printing, a traditional plant-based dye "recipe" is developed within each family and lives on from generation to generation.

Colors are applied in certain patterns and designs during textile printing. Fabrics with correctly printed colors are bonded to the fibers so that they stay vibrant when washed or subjected to friction. During printing, the placement of colors on fabric can be achieved with wooden blocks, stencils, engraved plates, or rollers. Many methods are available for printing fabrics. The hand block printing technique is one of those methods. Hand-Block printing is an ancient textile craft originating from a cluster of ancient towns in Rajasthan. Artists carved intricate designs on wooden blocks, which were later used for printing fabrics. Block print fabrics typically take seven to ten days to create and feature earthy tones & motifs inspired by nature, village life, and Indian mythology. There are so many interesting designs using block prints. In addition to giving the garment a sleek look, these prints add an edge to it. Hand block printing takes inspiration from a variety of ancient art forms, such as abstract paintings and Mehendi designs. Intricate patterns characterize basic hand block printing designs due to the artistic abilities of various designs. However, hand block printing can also be used to create elaborate designs. There are certain basic components of Buti, Jhal, Bel, and Buta that make up Block Prints. Block printing by hand has taken on a different approach in recent years. Traditionally, it was an elaborate technique. The art of hand block printing has always been admired, but many new aspects have been added to keep it current with current fashion trends.
